Metal analysis
Since 2005 D-lab is accredited for analyses of steel. The accredited analyses methods are mostly in compliance with ASTM standards, but modified for a wider content scope. We are also accreditated for Brass, Bronze, Pure Copper, Titanium alloys and Carbon in Ferrochromium, Ferromanganese, Ferrosilicone and Carbides.
We can analyse your samples of
Fe-base
Ni-base
Cu-base
Al-base
Co-base
Ti-base
Our advanced analyses equipment, duplicated to ascertain high delivery reliability, contains i a the most advanced spectrometers available on the market. See our equipment.

We are accredited for steel and cast iron (white structure) by SWEDAC according to EN 17025, ASTM standard. Below you can see the accredited substance scopes and reference methods.
The procedure
If the samples are flat, min Ø 30 mm and max Ø 55 mm, the analyses are performed utilizing the equipment best suited to the element in question. A ‘full’ analyses comprises the elements listed below, except O, H, Pb, Bi and Sb. Analyses of C, S and N is made by using combustion analyses and for As, P, B and Al optic spectrometry (spark) is used. All other elements are analysed by x-ray fluorescence.
If the samples are of other dimensions than stated above sample preparations will have to be made to fit the equipment. The preparation can be made by flattening, cutting, diluting, casting and other equipment adaptation methods, to fit the required size. See the Sample preparation headline.
